Enjoying the Spring!!

Quick updates--

We visited with the Knobelochs while in SC

Roddy has been in yard work overdrive the last few weeks. Here is Elijah doing his part--

Roddy and Thomas dumping the massive amount of mulch on the driveway. $60 isn't bad for a dump truck full--so full, in fact, that the lift wouldn't work! They had to resort to manual labor. :-)

We have been able to go to the beach three times already! Here is the first trip to Charleston for the Bridge Run. I did the whole 6 miles without walking!!

Team Allison/Katie

More youth staff who came down for the race. We had a blast!!

We left the boys with Beck and Big Daddy for the race, but when my cousin Steven got married in Charleston a few weeks later, we brought the boys. They had a little bit of fun...

All dolled up for the wedding--

Enjoying the pool!

Ready for a bike ride!

Visiting Beck and Big Daddy in Lexington

Big Daddy and Uncle Mark

Gabe showing off his corn-eating skills

For Mother's Day this year, Roddy planted a rose bed for me complete with an arbor and 10 rose bushes!!! My house has roses every where and I couldn't be happier!

Hibernation?

Wow!  How quickly time passes.  Here are some December updates.  :-)

I ran my first 5k and completed my goal of running the whole thing.  Yippee!

And my baby boy turned 1!

Then we went to Brazil for 3 weeks and had a blast getting to spend time with Roddy's family.  I'll post pictures of that separately.

If it were me...

... I wouldn't be nearly this happy. Poor Elijah has a cold and still loves to giggle. :-)

Silly babies

Silly baby #1...

Silly baby #2...

Some days I just can't believe how blessed I am to have these little bundles of joy in my life.  Our house is never dull or drab, and I like it that way!!

Trains!

Here is Elijah's first experience playing with our Thomas the Train paraphernalia.  He was so excited!  He was taking the trains and tracks out, and Gabe and I were building.  I love that he is getting old enough to really play with us.

Jesus and the DMV

We pick great days to go to the DMV.  At least a two hour wait plus two kids equals lots o' fun.  We had to change the address on our driver's licenses, though, and I was desperate for a card at the Durham County Library, which is right down the street from our house.  To entertain Gabe, we found a little study guide that had pictures of common street signs--stop, train crossing, etc.  Fast forward a month or so...

On Tuesday I was driving back from Charlotte after meeting my parents to pick up the boys.  When we got off the interstate and turned toward our house, Gabe said, "This is the way to heaven, right Mommy?"
To say the least, I was a little shocked at his comment.  I collected myself, sure of oncoming doom, and said, "What do you mean?"
"It says 'ONE WAY' right there, and that's the way to heaven."  Wow.  He had recognized the sign from the little sheet at the DMV and combined the precious message of what our faith teaches him.  I explained to him that yes, there is one way to heaven, and that is Jesus.  Or 15-501 towards home after being away from Mama for 5 days...  :-)

Hooray for a new battery charger!!

We lost our battery charger when we moved in the middle of July, so any pictures posted since then have either been taken with someone else's camera or Roddy's iPhone.  I have been delaying the inevitable (while quietly mourning all the missed opportunities) due to the outrageous price of replacing it.  Then I remembered my old friend Ebay.  Poor Ebay.  I've neglected you and looked elsewhere, all the while knowing in the back of my head that you'd be there for me again one day.  Well, last week was "the day."  I looked there for a charger, and low and behold I found one for a mere $7.56, including shipping!  Wooo!  (I've since found some precious clothes for Elijah, too.)  I received the charger yesterday when we got home from Asheville (more on that later), and couldn't wait to see what was on my camera's memory!  (Isn't that sad that I had no idea what would be on there?)  So, even though theses we taken at the end of July/beginning of August, they are just too cute to be passed over.  :-)

Our family rafting trip with the Bible Church.

Hahahhahaha.  I just couldn't resist.  Sorry, buddy.

This is Cindy Clark and her daughter, Emma.  Brent, the dad, is Roddy's boss.  They were so great with Elijah, and the look on Cindy's face is just priceless!!  His real fascination was with her feet, but I didn't get a picture of that.

I'm not kidding.  Gabe Dinsmore may just be the sweetest big brother on the face of the planet.

The sweetness continues...

Gabe's 4th Birthday.  We played a LOT of Guess Who tournaments.  :-)  I love the fact that he is getting older and is able to really play with us.  It makes me look forward to things to come, which is a relief, because I tend to be far too sentimental.

Did I lose the chromosome war or what?

Labor Day pictures

The family went to Bristol, TN to visit Roddy's mom and sister over Labor Day Weekend.  We had such a blast!

Y-M-C-A

Goal of the year for Katie-- run a 5k without stopping.  (For those of you that know me, please stop laughing.)  Our family has joined the Y and we are loving it!  The boys go to childcare for up to 1 1/2 at a time and Roddy and I can do our thing.  Yesterday we lifted weights, played racquetball, then ran on a treadmill.  Treadmills are great for us.  Roddy runs and runs, and I alternate between running and walking (for now ;-)), and we can stay beside each other.  I just have to be careful because I tend to drift towards the side if I look at him.  And I would be that girl who busts in front of everyone...

Almost 2 years later...

Thanks, Rachel, for encouraging me to do this. I've wanted to post for a while now, but never got around to it. At least one person checks this still, and so I will fulfill her request to update.  :-)
Since the last time I posted, we have had some major life changes.
  • Found out we were pregnant with baby #2 in April 2007
  • Moved to Chapel Hill, NC in September
  • Elijah Campell was born in December
  • Bought a new house in July 2008
Here are a few pictures to get me caught up.  Now hopefully I'll be a tad more regular...
